Bittante Mowers

Bittante Flail Width*:

Description Detailed Product Information
  • The Bittante flail mower (available in 20", 24", 28", 32" and 39") is our best "bang for the buck" flail mower. A combination of price and serious mowing ability are a win-win for our customers!
  • Fits Blitz, BCS, and Grillo 2-wheel tractors

Bittante Flail mower Pulverizing Thorns and brambles
  3. STANDARD: Heavy duty "Y" flail blades. These blades are physically larger/heavier than BCS Bladerunner and same size and weight of Berta flail mower. OPTIONAL: Scoop/Mowing blades | Straight / Slitter blades
  4. STANDARD: Bittante blades are "slotted" at the connection point which give Bittante blades better energy absorbing capabilities over both Berta and BCS flail mowers! THIS FEATURE UNIQUE TO BITTANTE FLAILS.
  5. STANDARD: Adjustable front (Stowable) swivel caster wheels | Work great on raised beds or flat ground as they are located near the center of mower width. When in heavy brush/vines, they can be quickly stowed (in a matter of seconds) and moved out of the way to allow for better performance as needed.
  6. STANDARD: Adjustable side skids - Protect the sides of the mower and can be used as cut height adjustment as well
  7. STANDARD: Adjustable front bulkhead/guard - can be adjusted to suit the volume of cut material
  8. Woody material cut diameter: Depending on hardness of the wood, up to 1" diameter saplings can be handled by the flail mower
  9. STANDARD (Upon request) - Adjustable Anti-Scalp roller | Unlike BCS Bladerunner model, which is required to run the anti-scalp roller on 30" raised beds, the Bittante flail mower due to its superior front wheel positioning does NOT need the OPTIONAL roller in many cases.
  10. STANDARD: Handles, top left and top right make mower easier to move around or lift when mower is not connected to tractor. | THIS FEATURE IS UNIQUE TO ONLY BITTANTE BRAND.
  11. We stock 24", 28" and 32" sizes to fit Blitz, BCS and Grillo. 20" and 39" flail mowers are SPECIAL ORDER for any tractor brand. Allow 2 months roughly for those sizes.
  12. Color: Our Bittante mowers are mostly supplied in a red color. Occasionally, due to inventory in Italy, they arrive in silver color. But its the exact same mower, just different color. Price is the same either way.

5 of 5 Flail Mower - Bittante September 1, 2023
Reviewer: Richard K from Indiana, USA
I am an experienced small market farmer located in Indiana.  Experienced in the use of two-wheel tractors and equipment.  I originally purchased a BCS 853 with 30" Berta flail mower back in 2019 from Dailey's.  Over The years he has maintained great communication and contact.

The Berta flail mower did the job of mowing anything I could do throw at it but, I found the wheel and roller adjustments cumbersome.  The machine is well built but  too heavy.  I should note, when growing on a bed system for vegetables I often made two passes with my 30" flail mower to cover walkways and bed tops.  I use the flail mower to also mow potato hills prior to harvesting.  The extra weight of the Berta would dig into the hills at times.  Not great for potatoes.  I also had to detach and turn the Berta sideways to fit through existing high tunnel doors.  Given the extra weight and limiting factors I decided to give the Bittante 28" flail mower a try.
All I can say is I'm glad I did.  I absolutely love this flail mower.  For starters it fits in my high tunnel door.  The wheel option is a good complement to the depth roller.   The depth wheels have been useful to mow grass around plot edges and thickets.  I went through brambles and locust saplings with ease.  I set the depth roller for mowing bed tops and walkways.  Since I make two passes already, I didn't notice the 2" difference in flail mower width.  What I did notice is it works well paired with a Blitz 80 tractor which I now use on my market farm.  At the current price point it's a good value.  Performance and value, what's not to love?  The extra side to side movement allows for better work ability when mowing potato vines prior to digging.  I prefer the Bittante to the Berta and subsequently sold the Berta.

5 of 5 Flail Mower - Bittante August 24, 2023
Reviewer: Howard M from Pennsylvania
After receiving the flail mower, Richard walked me through the setup. After a few attempts on the setup (my human error), I was able to get the mower hooked up to my Grillo 107D. Richard was very responsive and helpful with my setup issues, including many emails and some video exchanges. In the first couple weeks, I have already mowed several areas of dense brush. The mower is a great addition to my Grillo tractor and will be using it for many seasons on my property.
